Just love that local farms open up their greenhouses for people to come by and pick fruits. Of course we pay for them, we do the work picking them, but it’s such fun that it’s clearly worth it for me!
Just look at these tomatoes!
That’s true, Bert. Where I live (philippines) they don’t have that very often, the nearest farm where you can come pick something yourself is hundreds of miles away. And then it’s only specialty stuff like strawberries and such. But the neighbors do come and help themselves to our malunggay growing along the fence without as much as a “please” or “thank you”!
Loving the season!
I used to be a fan of this kind of concept but there’s just so much wastage. Some people who come and pick aren’t really careful not to pick the ones not yet that ripe or to make sure they take what they harvest.
There’s for sure something to be done on the part of the farm to make sure less goes to trash.
“You got to be a gardener to appreciate dirty and muddy hands.”
That’s always a great time and fun to do with your partner!
