Bought 3 rhodedendron plants late last summer. Read that they don’t like to get their feet wet, so dug down 18″ -2 feet and lined with gypsum, then mixed soil with ericaceous compost. White looks great and beginning to flower. Blue ok , pretty healthy, slight touch of droopon few leaves. Red, only one flowering when I bought it, has more droop and some scorched leaves. Watered all today, but cautious about drowning roots, despite my precautions. North Sussex clay not the best for drainage, but far from swampy. Red is only one planted between 2 old cypress stumps. Could this be a factor?
