I have grown ponytail grass a few times from seed  that was purchased. I live in cold climate so the plant dies in winter. I am having a hard time obtaining seed to purchase but  I got the seeds from the plant itself last fall. I tried planting the black seeds but non germinated. Thus was 3 weeks ago.  How do I plant  ftom my own seed

Hello, do you start your seeds indoors? I read it’s vulnerable to frost, maybe it’s still too cold if you start it outside and it freezes.

If you still have seeds, try sprouting them in different ways: sprinkle a few on a wad of moist cotton, a few more in nursery pots that you keep wet and others only moist, a few inside a cut plastic bottle to make a mini-greenhouse, and try different spots around the house. For sure one of the options will make the seeds germinate, hopefully.

I think you need lots of seeds, maybe most of them get eaten up by bugs or birds. Or protect them with a net.

    Loving the season!
