My well water has flouride and lime in it – bad for diffenbachia?
Water with salt, chlorine, flouride, etc isn’t ideal not only for dieffenbachia but most of the plants if not all. The said minerals can build up in the soil which will eventually lead to leaves to turn brown and worse, to burn. Like tap water, there are two ways to solve to handle this: either use a filtration system or just leave the water in an open container for a few hours before watering your plants.
Why not gather rainwater? That’s the best. A rainy day will give you weeks of watering if you put a few pots and pans out.

I have a diffy and been watering it from the tap for ages. Still looking good, but I do repot it every year or two, maybe that helps it deal with the tap water.
