My begonia was eaten by a deer. The leaves and flowers are gone. However there is some new growth on the bottom of the plant. Anyone know what to do? Thanks!

Hi seems I’m first to answer this time, hope my advice helps, well, the begonia is grow back just fine that’s for sure as you’re saying, there’s even new growth already

the next question though is how should you protect it! because deer like to come back at it if they liked the plant. hopefully they didn’t but well.

I find that what works best is three strong stakes in the ground and then a circle of mesh wire like chicken wire, that keeps the deer out. But it isn’t very elegant i must admit.

Thanks for the help. I get the chicken wire but prefer to find another alternative. I agree that it is not very elegant!

The very first thing you should do is to make around a fence.

I know this is probably the best option but I don’t love begonias enough to put fences in my garden. I’d just assume moving it to a pot and putting something else there. Thanks for the advice, though!
