I have a huge plant in my front yard larger than a car lol. I want to trim it way back as it is taking over the sidewalks as well. I have tried tying cord around it to bunch up & not having any luck..any ideas on how to cut this way back ???? Someone on FB suggested to burn it down but I am not a fan of that idea as huge as it is ! Help !!!

Wow, that’s indeed huge! Trimming back (and not even sure burning will work) won’t solve the problem that it’s taking a huge space because the roots down there will remain alive. Digging out the roots in the unwanted place is what you need to do. Why not rent a backhoe for a day to get the job done?

Hope I’m not too late for this.

Cut to about 6″. Then separate with a spade and transplant parts to make new grasses. Burning is only ok if there is nothing overhead or near that will also burn. The burning grasses float through the air possibly causing unwanted fires! A friend did this and burned overhead wires twenty feet above the grasses! Not a good idea at all!
