It’s been sick with scale insects. Leaves are thin and have shapes like huge ingrown pimples. Sorry I don’t know how to describe it better. I’ll take a photo tomorrow..

Is this caused by scale insects or another problem?

Couldn’t be sure by just relying on your description. There is a list of possible reasons: lack of water, excess water, not enough sunlight, sickness, etc. Would it be possible to have the picture posted? 🙂

How are the stem and branches? Color? Dry?

    Hi to you both.

See picture below.. just never mind the brown color (adjustment to the sun – out for a week now). I know it’s 2-week late but was caught up with work and would have forgotten it hadn’t I received notifications for your responses.

Do you know what the remedy is for this sickness?

Now I can see that the problem is severe scale insect infestation. Check Nature & Garden’s article here to solve this issue: https://www.nature-and-garden.com/gardening/scale-insects.html

You can also simply use rubbing alcohol. Wet a cotton bud and carefully apply it on the affected leaves twice a week until insects are gone.
