My tiny oak tree is growing weird balls that aren’t acorns

There are a dozen of these small coin-sized marbles on my oak tree. Are they a fungus? Should I cut them off? They’re firmly attached to it I’m afraid of breaking the branches. It’s a small beauty oak near where I take my coffee. I’m curious as to what it really is!

October 14, 2022 at 11:05 am ReplyOak apple gall caused by gall wasp Biorrhiza pallida. The larvae live inside. galls will not seriously harm your tree. Personally I would leave them as they look kind of interesting.
