    Hi

We bought a Photinia grown as a standard last year and the nurseryman told us it would grow 1 foot a year. It’s still very healthy but has not grown any taller? Is this usual for a standard?

    TIA

Hi well 1 foot a year sounds possible but only once the tree is settled in I guess. After all, in the first year after planting it has to spread out its roots and all so maybe it’s only focusing on that at this point. Then again I know a problem I have with shrubs is that I keep looking at it at the beginning like almost every week and I’m like “hey fella when are you gonna grow up?” and then I don’t see any progress and I get bored and then three years later I’m like “whoa dude when did you get that tall?” and then I have to start pruning it because it’s grown like crazy…

    Loving the season!

not usual to me if its planted in a favorable environment but possibly it’s just delayed with all the adjustments it had to do after transplanting it in your garden.

It should grow this year especially that its healthy
