Can anyone tell me how to grow my willow tree? It’s growing great but do have to do anything when branches touch the ground and will they rot if left? I`ve obviously never grown one before so need to know how to care for it.July 27, 2020 at 5:49 pm ReplyPamelaPrivate messageGreenhorn
Hi! I love weeping willow trees!
They won’t really rot, they’ll just continue to grow longer and longer. If they get blocked and stay constantly in the ground, they could develop roots and get new shoots coming. Willows can be propagated through cuttings.
It’s recommended to prune them for the following reasons: give shape to the tree, avoid breakage of the branches (caused by wind when branches are too dense) and to keep a space under the tree to enjoy the shade or if you have other plants growing below.
Hope this helps!July 29, 2020 at 7:35 pm ReplyjakipopPrivate messageGreenhorn
For my part they just dangle to the ground and when I mow it cuts them short!July 31, 2020 at 11:20 am ReplyFatzoPrivate messageGreen Thumb
