I’m into growing shrubs and trees outdoor and not really caring for veggies and flowers. However, for the love of my life, I’m going to make a garden box to be put beside the glass door in the kitchen and help her grow some spice herbs. She’s been dreaming of having this corner – don’t ask me how many times she has told me so. 😎
What would really help me realize this work is your advice as to what to consider in terms of plastic material to use to contain excess water in the box. Based on experience (sorry to say), even the ones bought at the stores somehow don’t succeed in this.

You mean you want to build your own garden box? What do you have in mind? What kind of box might you build that doesn’t yet exist in garden stores? Happy to hear your ideas
For one thing, it doesn’t need to be very deep. I don’t know of any herbs that need very much soil except for rosemary, perhaps, but even that one can do with very little. In our garden it would grow in a shallow stone trough that was beautiful! Alas! We left one summer and a heat wave dried it out… 😕 😕 😕
I was thinking of a wooden box, 3ft*1ft size with a depth of 1ft.
Had a kind of bad experience buying one at the store. It leaked in our living room! Seems they’re using a type of plastic not reliable to do its job.
What do you advise? Is there some kind of a glue to seal the lines? Happy you responded!
That’s not that big, a can or two of flex seal could be a good substitute to plastic.
