Is it only me whose hyacinths are brutally consumed by slugs and/or snails? Havn’t seen any of the culprits in the morning when I usually go round the garden but my babies’ condition is getting worse and worse. Check the photo below to see what’s I’m complaining about! And please, do give me any advice.. or at least some sympathy  😛

That’s a shame..  😥 Can only send you my sympathies. Tried several methods (includes beer) to make slugs and snails spare my veggies but remains unsuccessful!

Thanks for your sympathies! A friend told me to put ashes around the plant. Have some in my fireplace and put it the other day. No new damage. So I would say it’s working! Maybe you can try?

I did try it as well. But quantity might be a factor. I put only a handful afraid to kill the plant due to too much acidity in the soil. How much did you put for a plant?

I took at least 3 cups from my fireplace and meticulously put it around the stem of the plant making sure there was no gap. I’ve read today that mulching also helps.

Let’s keep our spirit up! Thanks for your message by the way!
