Two years ago I was surprised to find a walnut seedling in my garden. I didnt really how it got there but I suspected it was in the compost we had bought from a city waste center and added to the garden soil. Given the size of my garden this tree has to go to somewhere else. Ive arranged with a friend whos more than happy to keep it and unearthed it the other day. Unexpectedly she had to leave at least for a week due to an urgent matter. The seedling is in the bucket half filled with water. Ia it ok to stay like that for a week or more or you think I should plant it again while waiting for my friend? Whats the best thing to do?

Hello, GnG. Hard to say as I have not tried it before. But I would have transplanted some surrounding soil along with it instead and kept the soil humid, not soggy or dry (a bucket needs to have water drainage holes if filled with soil though). You c-a-n grow some seedlings in water for a while though; here is a picture I found in Pinterest:

Just remember to let tap water sit out overnight before changing the water in the bucket; this will allow time for fluoride and chlorine in tap water to dissipate. Good luck, Luis

Hello. I want to thank you for your help. I  transferred it in a pot. I always check it’s not soggy or dry. Its leaves are kind of tired hopefully will get better. My friend confirmed her return end of next week and I want the leaves to look better when she comes pick it up.

By the way nice video. Its like growing avocado from seed. Another friend had showed me a video of that.
