I’ve bought a Calamondin (citrus mitis) without researching first and can’t decide whether to return it.  Anyone with experience have advice for me?  I was planning to plant outside in South Alabama zone 8.

Hello karen, I find the shrub lovely but it’s definitely not for its fruits. I had one growing, it’s not that they’re sour it’s that they’re so bland!! I did everything I could to change the taste of mine, with fertilizer, lots of things, but they were always dry, juiceless, maybe just the rind smelled of citrus slightly but it that was about it. Since then, got a kumquat I love, it also bears fruit and I can actually eat them!
