Cut or grow Japanese boxwood pruning

    Not sure if I should top this or let it grow. Trying to get a wide hedge. About 3ish years old been growing in this spot for 1.

    Location Florida.

    They look so cute! My suggestion would be to prune the tips of each branch as soon as it’s 4-5 inches long.

    Snipping off the tips will cause each branch to grow 2 or 3 new shoots. Since this boxwood will grow about a foot in a year, this means you’ll have to go through the shrubs 2 or 3 times this season. You’ll quickly see it grow much more dense and lush! But it won’t grow tall as fast.

    Maybe start giving it a squarish shape next year only, not yet this year.
