Bought 4 ceanothus 3 years ago,  planted against west facing wall, leaves very healthy but a seldom flower is very small, very rare and lasts for a few days. Very disappointing as never had this problem when grown before in other areas.

    Help please.

Hmm I had a ceanothus that started off with only a couple flowers, but by year 3 it had definitely taken off.

I know there is a link between sun and flowering, but if you say west it means it gets a lot of sun? Or is there a tree or neighbor hiding it?

What about soil type, does it drain well enough? A neighbor grows his on a mound because he had tried in another lower part of the garden and it wouldn’t develop. After the transfer to the top of a mound to a side of his garden it started blooming much more, now it’s nearly 10′ tall.

Maybe you could share a pic of the set-up?
