What’s wrong with this apple tree?

I am watering my neighbors garden and they recently got an apple tree. I saw that the leaves were dying and turning black.
See attached photoIs there any remedies I can make at home to fix this?

Looks like a type of fungus? Shot hole disease, or some variety thereof possibly.
Has is worsened much recently?
I would just remove affected leaves to keep it from spreading. Discard them further off to avoid recontamination.
