I repotted my Dracaena two years ago, and I looked online to make sure I positioned it correctly. I read that it should be facing the sun, but not directly in full sun.

But just now, it had a yellow leaf. I’m afraid I repotted it for nothing. I changed the pot, used good soil, and even put clay pellets at the bottom. I think I did everything right. Maybe I’m panicking for no reason, but I don’t want it to die. I mist it every day, except in winter. There are no bugs on it. It has plenty of plants companions. The house is bright, almost like a greenhouse. If you could tell me what’s wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. 😀

Well, hello Kitty.25, I think that one or two yellowing leaves shouldn’t be a cause for worry. But if it’s more, then there might be a problem with the soil mix. Some soil mixes retain water too much, for dragon trees it’s important to have good drainage.

Are the leaves yellowing from the bottom, or are new leaves turning yellow?

Hey! It sounds like you’ve put a lot of care into your Dracaena, so I totally get why a yellow leaf might be worrying. But honestly, a single yellow leaf every now and then can be pretty normal, especially if the rest of the plant looks healthy. It might just be an old leaf making room for new growth. Since you’re keeping the soil quality good and watching the light exposure, you’re on the right track. However, misting every day might be a bit much for a Dracaena, as they prefer a more moderate humidity. Try cutting back on the misting and see if that helps. Also, ensure the soil isn’t staying too wet—overwatering could be a culprit for yellow leaves too. Keep an eye on it, but it sounds like you’re doing a great job with your plant care!

“Repotting my dracaena marginata was a great decision! It looks so much healthier in its new pot with fresh soil. Can’t wait to see it thrive even more!”
